Zelma Watson George was actress, U.N. ambassador: Black History Month
Zelma George wrote the drama "Chariot's A'Comin!" that was broadcast on Cleveland's WEWS in 1949. She also starred in the opera "The Medium" at the Karamu Theatre. She broke racial barriers when she was asked to star in the off-Broadway production of the opera, in a role not created for a black woman.
